Rio Cristal Resources Corporation (“RCR”) was created to carry out exploration activities in Peru and was incorporated under Canada’s Business Corporation Act (British Columbia) on November 24, 2006. RCZ conducts its exploration activities through its wholly owned subsidiary Cerro La Mina S.A., a Peruvian company.
The Company holds the rights to acquire a 100% interest in the Charlotte Bongará claim block located in the Amazonas Department of Peru, obtained through a transfer agreement with Compañía Minera Pilar del Amazonas. This claim block, located in an emerging zinc district, consists of 26 contiguous mining concessions combining to total 18,143 hectares and include the Cristal, San Jose and Florida exploration projects. In mid-2008, the Company initiated drilling zinc oxide and sulphide targets at the Cristal project and began early stage exploration work at San Jose and Florida. The Company’s exploration area is bordered by a zinc project controlled by Cementos Pacasmayo to the east and by Votorantim Metais' Florida Canyon advanced zinc exploration project to the south.
