Company Overview Print E-mail

Rio Cristal Resources Corporation (“Rio Cristal”) was created to carry out exploration activities in Peru and was incorporated under Canada’s Business Corporation Act (British Columbia) on November 24, 2006. Rio Cristal conducts its exploration activities through its wholly owned subsidiary Cerro La Mina S.A., a Peruvian company.

The Company holds the rights to acquire a 100% interest in the Charlotte Bongará claim block located in the Amazonas Department of Peru, obtained through a transfer agreement with Compañía Minera Pilar del Amazonas. This claim block, located in an emerging zinc district, consists of 26 contiguous mining concessions combining to total 18,143 hectares and include the Cristal, Alta Cristal, San Jose and Florida exploration projects.

In 2008, Rio Cristal completed over 4,200 meters of drilling zinc oxide and sulphide targets at the Cristal project and began early stage exploration work at San Jose and Florida. Results of the drilling campaign were excellent with almost 80% of drill holes intersecting zinc.  In 2009, the world financial crisis made raising sufficient funding for more drilling impossible and the project was put on standby.  The Company expects to begin drilling as soon as additional funding is available or a joint venture partner is identified.  The Company’s Charlotte Bongara project is bordered by a zinc project controlled by Cementos Pacasmayo to the east and by Votorantim Metais' Florida Canyon advanced zinc exploration project to the south.

In December 2009, Rio Cristal adquired an option on the Condor gold prospect located approximately 375 kilometers south of Lima, Peru. The Company is doing surface exploration at the project and expects to begin drilling in the second half of 2010.

Rio Cristal Resources continues to seek new gold and copper projects in Peru.
