Through initial examination work and analysis three exploration projects have currently been identified within the Charlotte Bongará claim block: Cristal, San Jose and Florida.
The principal project is Cristal which is underlain mostly by the uppermost stratigraphic unit (Condorsinga Formation) similar to the Cementos Pacasmayo Bongará zinc oxide project. Fresh sulphide-bearing outcrops have also been identified which suggest possible deep zinc sulphide mineralization. One particular feature observed at the Cristal targets is the presence of a sulfide-bearing core with a zinc oxide envelope unknown at the Cementos Pacasmayo Bongará Project. Geochemical sampling and detailed geological mapping at Cristal target areas are in progress.
The San Jose exploration project, located approximately 10km southwest of the Cristal project, was identified based on stream sediment sampling. San Jose consists of mineralization hosted within the Chambará Formation, which is “favourable” to Mississippi Valley-type mineralization. The Florida project is located adjacent to Vortorantim’s Florida Canyon advanced exploration project. Exploration at the San Jose and Florida targets will commence mid-2008 following the rainy season.
A two-phase, results driven exploration program has been initiated consisting of detailed mapping and sampling programs, grid style soil sampling, ground magnetic geophysical surveys, diamond drilling, and additional exploration activities as is considered necessary. Presently, the principal exploration activities are focused on identifying additional drill targets at Cristal as well as preparing an environmental baseline study as required by Peruvian law to conduct a drilling program. |
